Butterflies and Moths of North America

collecting and sharing data about Lepidoptera

Prairie Wetlands Learning Center

The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center (PWLC) is partnering with Butterflies and Moths of North America (BAMONA) starting in November 2020 to create a diverse and scientifically verified butterfly list and brochure for visitors and to help evaluate the success of prairie restorations. Scroll down to see all the species of butterflies (and moths) photographed and identified so far.

To contribute your own photos as part of this citizen science project, create an account here on BAMONA, then submit your sightings observed while visiting the PWLC. Past photos are welcome, too. Remember to choose the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in the Partners Project section at the end of the submission form. Doing so will help us build our list and the Otter Tail County record at the same time. Thanks to BAMONA for providing data management support and identification expertise!

The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center is located in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, on the eastern edge of North America's tallgrass prairie and prairie pothole region. It is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is part of the Fergus Falls Wetland Management District and America's National Wildlife Refuge System. Hiking trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset, year round.
