Subfamily: Larentiinae
Identification: Forewing is elongate and pointed with white and black-burgundy costal and submarginal patches.
Wing Span: 2.3 cm
Life History:
Flight: Adults are nocturnal; fly in early spring (typically April-June.
Caterpillar Hosts: Many broadleaf trees including Salix, Populus, Betula and Rhamnus
Adult Food:
Habitat: Woodlands, wet and dry forests.
Range: British Columbia east to Nova Scotia, south to central California, east to northern Colorado and western South Dakota.
