Subfamily:
Identification: A large prominent, with scalloped forewing margin. Nearly identical to Datana ministra but forewing slightly darker, especially toward costa, with less scalloped outer margin. Orbicular spot sometimes conspicuous. Hindwing also darker than in Datana ministra.
Wing Span: 4-5.6 cm.
Life History:
Flight: June-September.
Caterpillar Hosts: Birches, blueberry, linden, sassafras, and witch-hazel.
