Observation notes: Several of these large caterpillars had already consumed almost all the leaves on a single deerberry shrub, Vaccinium stamineum, before they were observed. The orange rump patch suggests Drexel's as opposed to the the yellow-necked caterpillar. Appreciate verification from an expert.
