Treble-bar Moth
Aplocera plagiata (Linnaeus, 1758)

Identification: Forewing brown to gray with triple submedial, medial, and postmedial lines containing faint cross bars. Dark apical dash with yellow or orangish shading.
Wing Span: 3.0 - 3.8 cm
Life History:
Flight: Adults fly May through September; two broods. Adults are nocturnal.
Caterpillar Hosts: St. Johnswort (Hypericum spp.)
Adult Food:
Habitat: Disturbed areas containing the hostplant.
Range: Native to Europe. Introduced into British Columbia in 1976, and Ontario in the 1980s. First recorded in the U.S. (near Plattsburgh, New York) in 2003. Has been found in Washington state; unclear whether is was introduced or has spread from B.C.
