Subfamily: Larentiinae
Identification: Forewing with a black median band that has a jagged outer margin.
Wing Span: 2.8-3.5 cm
Life History:
Flight: Adults are nocturnal, fly from April to October (most of year in California).
Caterpillar Hosts: Larvae feed on many herbaceous plants, particularly fireweed (Chamerion angustatum).

Range: Alaska to Nova Scotia, south to southern California and South Dakota.
