Range: Calisto hysius hysius (Godart, [1824]) is found in Southern Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic) and Calisto hysius aleucosticha Correa & A. Schwartz, 1986 is found in Northern Cordillera Central, Dominican Republic (source: Butterflies of America). Hispaniola was formed by the collision of palaeo-islands, and the diversity of species in the North and South differs.
