Small Tolype Moth
Tolype notialis Franclemont, 1973


Family: Lasiocampidae
Subfamily: Macromphaliinae
Identification: Very similar to Large Tolype (Tolype velleda), but usually much smaller and more variable in color, ranging from pale to dark smoky gray. Pm. line much more wavy and meets at costa at a more perpendicular angle.
Wing Span: 2.6-3.9 cm.
Life History:
Flight: June - September.
Caterpillar Hosts: Conifers.
