Identification: Mostly reddish, with sold purplish red shading inside am. line and beyond pm. line. Usually orange in the median area.

Life History:
Flight: May-August.
Caterpillar Hosts: Sheep laurel and dwarf cornel.
Adult Food:
Range: Nova Scotia to Georgia and Kentucky in acid soil habitats; southward in mountains only.
Conservation: Uncommon.
