Small Phigalia
Phigalia strigataria (Minot, 1869)
Family: Geometridae
Subfamily: Ennominae
Identification: Very similar to Toothed Phigalia (Phigalia denticulata), but usually smaller, less mottled, with straighter pm. line that curves gently toward inner margin.
Wing Span: 3-3.8 cm (male). Wings of female reduced, each less than 1mm long.
Life History:
Flight: March-May or early June northward; as early as January southward.
Caterpillar Hosts: American elm; probably many other trees.
