Bluish Spring Moth
Lomographa semiclarata (Walker, 1866)
Family: Geometridae
Subfamily: Ennominae
Identification: Forewing white, but appears slightly bluish due to black shading and lines. Hindwing shiny white with black discal dot, faint median line, and sharp terminal line of dots.
Wing Span: 1.8-2.2 cm.
Life History: A day-flier, sometimes mistaken for a butterfly.
Flight: Late March-April, to June northward.
Caterpillar Hosts: Alders, juneberries, chokeberries, hawthorns, poplars, and Prunus species.

Range: Newfoundland to west South Carolina, west across Canada, south to Missouri and South Dakota.
