Hypsopygia olinalis (Guenée, 1854)

Family: Pyralidae
Subfamily: Pyralinae
Identification: Similar to Hypsopygia costalis, but slightly larger. Ground color varies from rose to deep purplish. Widened tops of am. and pm. lines more triangular. Yellow fringes on all wings, but narrower.
Wing Span: 1.6-2.4 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-September.
Caterpillar Hosts: Oaks.
Adult Food:
Range: Throughout eastern North America.
Management Needs:
Comments: NULL
Taxonomy Notes: Previously in the genus Dolichomia as Dolichomia olinalis.
