Long-horned Owlet
Hypenula cacuminalis (Walker, 1859)
Family: Erebidae
Subfamily: Herminiinae
Identification: Similar to Renia species, but male lacks antennal tuft. Labial palps (the "horns") are long and upturned in both sexes, with a triangular tuft at the tip. Wings dull dark grayish brown with fine, scalloped black lines. Note white dots in dull orangish reniform spot.
Wing Span: 2.8-3.9 cm.
