Range: West of the Continental Divide. In some places just East of the Divide (Colorado, Alberta) thetis overlaps with Hemaris diffinis.

Comments: Journal of the Lepidopterists' Society 63(2), 2009, 100-109. Hemaris thetis (Boisduval, 1855) (Sphingidae) is a Distict Species. by B. Christian Schmidt. [study based on DNA and genitalia]. Hemaris thetis also includes (subsumes) the species previously recognized as 7856 - Hemaris senta.
