Subfamily: Heliothentinae
Identification: Wings orangish yellow. Forewing variably shaded with a dark orange to brown from median line either to st. line or to outer margin. Large, dark gray reniform spot. Dark discal spot and postmedial line on hindwing.
Wing Span: 2.8-3.4 cm.
Life History:
Flight: June - August.
Caterpillar Hosts: Larva eat the flowers of asters, delphiniums, gladiolus, phlox, strawberry, tarweed.

Range: Maine and southern Ontario to Florida, west to Missouri and Texas.
