Identification: Dark brownish gray, finely speckled by whitish scale tips, and with three raised, transverse bars of metallic lead- or bronze-colored scaling. Hindwing is entirely smokey brown
Wing Span: 1.6-2.1 cm
Life History:
Flight: February to June, varying with elevation and latitude.
Caterpillar Hosts: Pinus ponderosa seeds

Range: Southwestern US
