Identification: Forewing gray with brown lines and shading. Note the blackish brown patch near base. Indistinct translucent spot near forewing apex. Hindwing reddish brown.
Wing Span: 3.2-4.2 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-August. Two broods southward.
Caterpillar Hosts: Ashes, maples, oaks, Prunus species, and other trees.

Range: Maine and southern Ontario to Florida, west to Wisconsin, Missouri, and Texas.
