Identification: Forewing bluish gray to brown; median area darker brown except orbicular and reniform spots. Black basal dash; claviform spot a black loop extending outward from am. line. Hindwing grayish brown, slightly darker at outer margin.
Wing Span: 3.5-3.7 cm.
Life History:
Flight: May-July.
Caterpillar Hosts: Corn, timothy, wheat, wild rice, and other grasses and sedges.

Range: Labrador to Virginia, west across Canada, south to Minnesota.
