Observation notes: I found this on the side of a road while riding my bike in Michigan. A bird was trying to fly away with the caterpillar but it dropped it when I rode by. It squirmed rapidly when I touched it and had caterpillar like features on it's stomach. It had one false eye parrern, many black dots the size of a pin prick and the end opposite of the false eye had an opening that kept releasing spit looking bubbles. This caterpillar reminded me of a hot dog. I found it on the road near a small swamp area. It was 70 degrees when found and it hasn't rained in a month. It's diameter was a little bigger than the diameter of a nickel.
