Observation notes: I'm still looking for the mormen metal mark, let me know when i find it. low sixties warmed to 65 by 1530 moist, creeks starting to trickle a little, there was 6 inches just up the road a little from this spot. the main drainage san juan creek has sediments on the banks. Chaparal sage scrub oaks and sycamores and some succulents very interesting area. this butterfly was warming on the ground. as it was cool. lots of buckwheat in the area. not sure of all the varieties but there are several. saw lots of butterflies getting nectar of the black sage. bramble or green hs. elfin , painted lady and two types at least of dusk's you will get some more photos oh yes there were more sonoran blues. but they were on filerie grass like plant low growing with purple flowers seeds look like little daggers

Coordinator notes: This should be subspecies virgulti. The Mormon Metalmark is not in your frequently visited counties. It does fly in the San Bernardino Mts. in the late summer and fall. Mormon Metalmarks fly only late in the season wherever they occur.
