Observation date: July 27, 2013
Submitted by: Bob Nieman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Saw it in my overgrown garden where it was landing on Zinnias. Noticed it was not a swallowtail and was pretty sure I remembered seeing it and thinking I would never see one. Did not allow me to get very close and while it would return to the flowers after flying off, it would not pose for pictures. Used Iphone camera. Warm, somewhat humid (for SE NM) summer morning.

Coordinator notes: This is a nice record, as zebras are rarely seen in NM. This species is often in the mix for butterfly releases (e.g., for weddings), so if you think such an event could be the source of this individual, please let me know. Steve (sjcary@earthlink.net). Thanks!
