Observation notes: Found these remains in my yard in suburbia western Michigan. Other than this, there were only small bits of body left. It was found at the door to my shed which is home for many earwigs and carpenter ants so it was pretty eaten. From center of body to wingtip is 3 1/4" inches making this by far the biggest insect I've ever seen here other than a very rare Monarch.
Any ideas what this rarity (to my yard) is?
