Coordinator notes: Originally misidentified as P. brevicauda. The one intact tail, the left one, is much too long for the Short-tailed Swallowtail. In addition, brevicauda usually has less yellow than this specimen. And finally, a location near Montreal is many hundred of km from the range of brevicauda. So there can be no doubt at all that this is a male Black Swallowtail, the first generation, which overwintered as a pupa.
