Observation notes: Hot, sunny, Smokey day with light breeze. This butterfly fluttered about a small area above flowering wolfberry shrubs on the way side of the house. It landed periodically on wolfberry leaves. I did not see it land on flowers or nectar on them.

Coordinator notes: C. ladon would not be in flight in July, and recent evidence suggests it may not even exist in Minnesota due to lack of its primary host plant. C. lucia (Northern Azure) is likely the spring form in your area, and typically has a second summer brood. The bright white base color, lighter markings, and lack of fringe checkering favors neglecta, especially in July. -Jeff Gesell
