Mylitta Crescent
Phyciodes mylitta

Observation date: June 13, 2026
Submitted by: camflies
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This was on top of Frazier Mountain off the Frazier OHV Road in a large patch of ceanothus. I wasn't able to get closer so the photos are blurry unfortunately. I was curious if this could be a Northern Checkerspot or Field Crescent, though maybe the photos are inconclusive.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: I think its a female Mylitta Crescent. Northern Checkerspots do occur at Frazier Park and on Frazier Mountain and this is the right time for them there. I have 2 apparent records for Chlosyne gabbii in that area but those would need genomic confirmation. Essential, gabbii is absent from Kern County...Ken Davenport who goes to Frazier Park and vicinity often, its only an hour from Bakersfield where I live....only once this year so far....Ken Davenport
Checklist region(s): United States, California, Kern County
