Observation notes: Dark-colored caterpillar crawling across the Rio Grande channel on compacted sediments, in the direction of the low-flow channel. The midday was hot, under full sun, and with gusting wind.

Coordinator notes: This is definitely Junonia. I thought it might be Junonia grisea, which like J. coenia is also found in NM. But I think my ID is correct. I trust another coordinator will correct me if I'm in error. JRains
