Observation notes: Windy, sunny, high 60's. This butterfly was seen on a Mullein leaf near an outcropping of rocks. The butterfly was slow to move until I got quite close to it.

Coordinator notes: The Western Checkered White (or Western Peak White)...looks like a newly emerged male. The late season flight looks much like the early spring flight (and summer flight at high altitude) though the green venation on the underside of the hindwings is not as deep green. Mike
