Observation notes: Today was a very big day for Monarchs migrating through the yard. They were everywhere, almost exclusively feeding on Blue Mistflower (Conoclinium ceolestinum) flowers, which are spread throughout the yard. It didn't matter if the location was in sun or shade, Monarchs were visiting them before continuing in a southerly or southwesterly direction. I did see one feeding on Late Boneset (Eupatorium serotinum), but only one. Though there is only one boneset in the yard, it is wide and has plenty of flowers on it. Of the Rudbeckia, Late Boneset, Solidago rugosa, Blue Mistflower, Aromatic Aster and White Bush Asters blooming now, Blue Mistflower was the clear favorite.
