Observation notes: Two California Sisters flying. Seemed to be warming up for the day, flew around me and the car in the pullout area landing on the asphalt and slowly opening and closing wings. One stuck around for photos. My favorite butterfly spot on Marys Peak. 2.4 miles up Marys Peak Forest Rd from junction with Hwy 34. Sunny in the morning, shady in the afternoon. A small roadside stream and waterfall with a paved pullout. Road cut forested on one side, dry grassy meadow and moist riparian meadow along road cut. South facing granite cliff with lots of nooks and crannies for butterflies to shelter at night.
