Coordinator notes: HI. I'm pretty sure this is not J. nigrosuffosa, but J. coenia (although with some color variation - the cream band on the FW is somewhat dark - but is nearly absent in J. nigrosuffosa). I refer you to this article (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8570557/). While there are southeast Texas populations of J. nigrosuffosa, note the presence of the typically partial orange band, which is unlikely to be present in J. nigrosuffosa but is typical of J. coenia. Denton County is also nrather far from the typical range of the former. I constantly refer to this article in identifying Texas (and Florida) buckeyes, and I'm sure you'll find it useful, too. JRains
