Observation notes: Most were nectaring on California Buckwheat in Mal Paso Canyon restricted access at Point Lobos. We were on the Monterey County Butterfly Count and observed 27 individuals with the locals who called them Smith's Blue.

Coordinator notes: Smith's Blue is a paradox...they are listed as an endangered species but they are common and widespread, an effort was made to have it unlisted based on its abundance and huge number of colonies....Ken Davenport
