Observation date: May 23, 2025
Date notes: While conducting bi-weekly butterfly survey
Submitted by: rchensley
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: We typically get E. horatius and E. meridianus is farther west in Texas. I believe, using Kaufman's guide that it is another E. horatius but would like an expert's opinion.

Coordinator notes: Erynnis sp. are misidentified more than just about any other genus, and for good reason. The different sp. are often very similar, and ranges overlap. I can see why you think this is E. horatius, but I think the iNat crowd is correct in thinking this is E. meridianus. The distribution as mapped in BAMONA is somewhat suspect given how difficult it is to correctly identify the Duskywings, but your sighting is consistent with several others in the general area.
