Greenish Blue
Plebejus saepiolus
Observation date: May 05, 2025
Submitted by: TomPeterson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: These were abundant in a clover-filled lawn adjacent to Boronda Lake, Foothills Park, Palo Alto, sometimes as many as 4 together on the wet soil next to the lake. Nectaring on clover as well as visiting open patches of soil, especially wet soil by the lake. I did not see lupines anywhere nearby, so suspect not Boisduval's Blues. All uploaded photos of the same individual, which had the nice feature of a small notch in each hind wing, so I could verify photos of the same individual when I encountered it a second time. No male was cooperative enough for me to get both good upper side and underside photos like these.
