Observation notes: It was early morning, windy, cool and overcast. I was observing it & trying to get a picture without any grass blades in front of it due to the wind gusts. The moth didn't change position during the time I was there. Probably 5-6 minutes. It just hung on. It was striking to me as I had never seen this moth before. I posted on Next Door and people helped identify it through google lens app. It gained a lot of interest as commenters hadn't seen it before. Can you verify that it is smerinthus cerisyi? Location was at Amazon sawdust running trail, Eugene, Lane County, Oregon. LMK if you need anything else. Thanks!
