Observation notes: One of several buckeyes nectaring from an individual blue-purple aster plant, established on the Rio Grande bank. Several other butterfly species, ranging from skippers to variegated fritillaries and checkered whites were also taking nectar from this aster. The afternoon was partly cloudy, warm, and windy.
