Observation notes: The caterpillar was found on the stem of a parsley plant potted on an outside deck, on a warm, sunny day in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Coordinator notes: They can look a lot alike, especially in the earlier instar stages as in this individual. Another key to the ID is the host plant - it appears to be on Parsley, which is one of the hosts for the Black Swallowtail. Monarchs would strictly be found on Milkweed species. -jmgesell
