European Peacock
Aglais io

Observation date: August 31, 2022
Submitted by: Mitrom
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I observed 3 similar butterflies simultaneously feeding on my Buddleia bush which I identified as peacock butterflies. The weather conditions were warm and partly cloudy. The bush is close to my house and pretty well sheltered from the wind with a southerly exposure. I managed to take a few pictures but unfortunately the are not as clear as I would have liked. Qestion: I have 4 pictures. Can I submit all 4. Not sure if you got them.

Coordinator notes: These certainly seem fairly established around Montreal (and Houston, too), but they're tropical and it's unclear whether they survive the winter in Montreal or elsewhere. They appear to arrive along with freight from various places. I received two of your photos in this submission. If you have other photos of additional butterflies, you can submit those, too.
