Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Jim VonLoh invited me to join him looking for DMMs on the Krameria loaded east side of Tortugas Mt close to the designated parking area. We spotted 3 DMMs favoring Krameria and creosote. Although drought conditions persist in Dona Ana County, Tortugas Mt has benefitted from localized rain at least a couple of times this month perhaps helping to explain why Krameria and creosote are flowering now in this locale. Jim, who knows better than most if not all the resident DMM behavioral patterns, noticed what he described as a russet colored abdomen on the photos submitted below in contrast to the slatey/charcoal color he commonly sees. Jim encouraged me to submit these shots to BAMONA.

Coordinator notes: Gordon, there are terrific shots. I agree that the hint of orange on the body is atypical. not sure what it means. thanks for submitting!
