Observation notes: end of the day, side of the road across from the driveway of my Brother's house. Acted like a buckeye.. illusive, can't get too close, I used my zoom . It was unsettled. flying up and to different locations a lot.. I followed it until I got a good photo Coloring is different than any buckeye I have every photographed. it is much darker on wing tips and borders

Coordinator notes: There can be quite a bit of color variation between individuals…enough to have several variant color names. Adults from the first southern brood of the year migrate north, and then colonize the northern states through the late fall. -jmgesell
