Freija Fritillary
Boloria freija

Observation date: June 28, 2022
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Very small. At around 11,200 ft in wetland-type area bordering more rocky/talus slope, with willows as the main large vegetation nearby, and streams and boggy soils.
Status: Resident
Verified by: mikefisher
Verified date: July 08, 2022
Coordinator notes: Another Freija (Lesser) Fritillary (like you had in Park County a couple weeks earlier). Both Silver-bordered and Bog Frits are found in that area but you have to get right at or into bogs at or just below timberline to find these. The Bog flies earlier (starting mid-June, depending on snow pack) than the S-b (starting in mid-July normally in the mountains). Mike
