Observation date: April 15, 2022
Submitted by: jamesvonloh
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Individual taking nutrients and perhaps nectar from maturing catkins (appears to be using area between fruits rather than new flowers) of coyote willow tall shrubs growing in a dense, linear stand along the Rio Grande. They have been observed over the past two months but have been difficult to photograph. The afternoon was warm, under full sun, and with steady wind from W-to-E. This butterfly was located on the calm, east-facing side of the willow stand.
