Observation notes: Found as late instar on a leaf with what was thought to be the feeding signs of this larva on Quercus rubra. It was found where there were chunks eaten out of leaf, not blotch mines like other coleophorids, but some areas were eaten from the margins and some were eaten more centrally in the leaf. However, the larva was never observed feeding, mostly wandered around the container once it was found. Attached itself to the lid on the container on 5/24, eclosed 6/9. ***A few other individuals with very similar cases were found attached to the upper sides of both Q. rubra and Q. alba leaves in late May and early June, so this individual likely fed on the oak it was found on or another nearby oak.
