Our summer fundraiser has arrived, and we need your help!
We depend on donations to keep Butterflies and Moths of North America online and free. If everyone who uses this resource makes a donation, we could cover our ongoing costs, develop new features, upgrade the system, and maybe even remove those pesky ads. Please make a one-time or recurring donation to show your support for this valuable source of information. Thank you!
Observation notes: Individual perched on dry twig, appears to be sunning. Day is sunny and hot.

Coordinator notes: Jim, this is a good example of a pic that ordinarily I would not be able to ID with confidence because it has a feature consistent with duryi's (the location) and a feature consistent with mejicanus (the dark scales on the hindwing). If the eyes showed more clearly, I could make the call on that basis, but I cannot get a sense of grey vs. green because of the rear view. However, this is the same date and location as the previous sighting, which shows these same features plus the green eyes, so I will call this duryi, too. I went through that laborious explanation for ulterior purposes. thank you!
