Observation notes: Flitting around the Black-eyed Susans, Swamp Milkweed, and bushes in my backyard; I hope it hangs around. Haven't seen one for a really long time, and I know their population has plummeted.

Coordinator notes: The Monarch may not be as "endangered" as seems to be the popular talk. In Colorado, we are at the edge of the main central fly-way so some years we get a larger influx than in others but the Monarch generally prefers lower altitudes and wetland areas especially where the host grows commonly around their wet-dry margins. This year it seems to be making a stronger appearance toward the eastern Front Range than the recent past. If you have a suitable host and flowers in your yard, Monarch's will show up at some point.
