Observation notes: I don't know which species this is, but someone on iNaturalist suggested Afranius Duskywing and that looks reasonably similar to the photo. This was taken in a canyon with very gentle slopes. There were lots of ponderosa trees and some smaller vegetation on the sides. I don't remember that many specifics about the location since this was a few years ago.
