Observation notes: Warm, mostly-sunny, late-spring afternoon in an old prairie preserve, Merritt Prairie Forest Preserve in DeKalb County, though I don't think the particular plant in view is part of that old prairie. These are selected from photos of a large number (a couple dozen, anyway) of what appear to be the same kind of butterfly that seemed in turn to be laying eggs on the large bush they are seen on over an extended period of time. I quickly lost track of individuals.
