Observation notes: Butterfly observed in tall grass along the southern shoreline of Lukens Lake, elev. 8,230 feet, in Yosemite National Park. It was a quick - now you see me, now you don't - encounter. This small butterfly actually landed close to my feet, almost too close for my big tele-photo lens to focus! I've included a motion-blurred image to show hindwing pattern in flight.
