Observation notes: This butterfly was sitting on downed logs in a small group of mature ponderosa pines in Upper Water Canyon, off SR 501, Los Alamos, Canyon. It was a pleasant, partly cloudy afternoon.

Coordinator notes: Satyr Comma and Hoary Comma can be hard to tell apart. Your excellent photo shows that the upper surface of the hindwing has three dark (black) spots, whereas Hoary has only two. thanks for submitting!
