Observation notes: This beautiful butterfly was out on a sunny day with temperature of 60 degrees F. It was a large butterfly with black wings that had a wide cream colored border around the edges. It was flying across the trail just below eye level when I first spotted it. It continued to gain altitude to about ten or twelve feet and flew out across the marsh where I couldn't follow it. Since it never landed, it was not possible to obtain a photograph.
