Observation notes: This butterfly looked very fresh. Furry body and barred antennae. Perched on common yarrow. Trinity County above Grizzly Lake about halfway up the hill to Thompson Peak. Habitat photo included.

Coordinator notes: Subspecies sternitzkyi may turn out to be species level. I only saw one on Mt. Ashland, Oregon July 10th, and had several cloidus there on the 11th, and one from Mt. Shasta. Thanks for the great photos from the Mt. Eddy area, that location has always intrigued me, I have Art Shapiro's study on the Trinity Alps fauna-Ken Davenport
